Ravel with Kasparas: Iberian Impressions

Journey with us from the glorious colours of a French Garden with Debussy’s Prélude, through to the vibrant rhythms and spectacle of Spain. The dreamy flute solo, sensual harps and souring string melodies of Debussy’s lush and serene Prélude are followed by prize-winning pianist Kasparas Mikužis performing Ravel’s colourful Piano Concerto in G, mixing French impressionism with Basque folk music and American jazz. Finally our conductor Michael Thrift takes us to Seville for a saucily bracing whisk around Bizet’s Carmen, with its addictive melodies and drama.
