Some of the best loved works from the repertoire opening with Ravel’s homage to Couperin based on a traditional Baroque suite. Each movement is dedicated to the memory of a friend of the composer who died during World War I
We welcome back the dazzling virtuoso, Yury Revich for one of the world’s most popular violin concertos. Completed in 1866, Bruch was to compose two more concertos for the violin – but none equalled the popularity of his first.
Schubert’s youthful first symphony concludes the concert. Written when he was just 16, this is an impressive piece of orchestral music for both its time and size clearly inspired by the later symphonies of Joseph Haydn.
Tickets: 1st tier – £35; 2nd tier – £25; 3rd tier – £15
Box office: Tickets for this concert are no long available online, but may be purchased on the door from 6.45pm.
